Passed by the Bundestag, Bundesrat approval pending Early Start Pension (Frühstart-Rente) · Plenarprotokoll 21/103, p. 13037 and 13051 · checked on 23 October 2026
Short answer
According to the Bundestag's decision, the German state pays 10 € a month for children from age 6 until their 18th birthday, at most 1,440 €. What this becomes by 67 depends almost entirely on return and costs. The calculator is based on the law passed by the Bundestag on 16 October 2026; the Bundesrat still has to approve it.
The assumptions of this calculation
Statutory values according to the Bundestag's decision: 10 € a month from the completed age of 6 until the completed age of 18, first eligible year of birth 2020 (sections 1, 2, 30 FrühStRG; Bundestag printed papers 21/7864 and 21/8606).
Special case 1 January 2020: a child born on this day completes age 6 on 31 December 2025. So that this child still gets twelve full years although the programme starts in 2026, the payment for January 2026 is a one-off 20 € instead of 10 € (section 30(1) sentence 4 FrühStRG as recommended in printed paper 21/8606, p. 32, reasons p. 57). All other children get 10 € a month.
Result
According to the Bundestag's decision, there is no state Early Start Pension for this date of birth. The first eligible year of birth is 2020. Only your own top-ups are calculated.

How the calculator works, and what it leaves out
- Legal status: based on the law passed by the Bundestag on 16 October 2026. It has not yet been promulgated; if the Bundesrat changes anything, the calculator will be updated.
- Timing: entitlement starts in the month the child turns six and ends with the month before the 18th birthday. Because contracts can be certified from 2027 at the earliest, the calculator invests amounts for 2026 only from January 2027.
- Nominal values: capital at retirement is shown in euros of that year. The row "in today's purchasing power" converts it back with your inflation assumption.
- Tax and costs: payouts in retirement are taxed as income; the calculator shows the value before tax. No acquisition or sales costs may be charged on the state part, but they may be on top-ups. Running costs are applied to the whole capital.
- Not included: late contracts starting with capital from the state investment, market fluctuations, the shift to lower risk before retirement.
- Privacy: the calculation runs entirely in your browser. Nothing is stored or sent.
